Yes. We are pleased to have customers around the world. We can host all non-US domain name extensions.
2. Can I access my domain with and without the "www"?
Yes, you will be able to access your domain address with and without the 'www'.
3. How long does it take to set-up a new account?
New accounts are set-up within four business hours of submission.
4. Do you maintain backups of my data?
Pets Playground provides automated daily backups on all servers, a daily incremental back up and a weekly full backup. The full backups are placed onto tapes and are stored for two weeks while the incremental backups are stored onto disk and kept until the next full backup is performed.
5. Do you offer dialup Internet access?
No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your web site and retrieve e-mail addressed to your site. Providing a specialized service means that we do not have hundreds of modems to maintain, enabling us to devote more time to our customers and to the addition of enhancements to the entire site. Our servers are connected to the Internet via multiple OC3 lines to ensure a high level of performance.
6. Can I password protect directories?
Yes, you can password protect specific directories within your website. You can assign unique userIDs and passwords to control access to various web pages.
7. Can I upgrade or downgrade my account at a later date?
Yes, certainly. The charge for upgrading is merely the difference in hosting fees between the old account type and the new account type. You are issued a pro-rated refund for unused time under the old account type, and billed for a new period at the new rate. There is no fee for upgrading or downgrading.
8. Do you provide shared SSL certificate so I can use it for free?
Yes, we do! Pets Playground does provide the shared SSL hosting for free but a $30.00 one time setup fee is required.
9. How many MySQL databases come with each hosting account?
Each Pets Playground hosting account comes with 2 free MySQL databases.
10. Can I host an adult-oriented site at Pets Playground?
Pets Playground reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service for any project that it considers unsuitable, undesirable, or otherwise unacceptable, pursuant to our service contract and policies. At the present time, this includes most adult- content sites.
11. Is your FTP 24/7, or is it only usable during certain hours of the day?
You can update your pages an unlimited amount of times, at any time you wish.
12. Do you offer domain pointer?
Yes. We can point an additional domain to your master domain for free.
13. Does Pets Playground allow cronjob?
Yes, Pets Playground does permit cronjob.
14. Do you have support for Java Servlets on your servers?
No. Java Servlets are not available on the shared hosting environment.
15. Can I host XML and WAP pages?
Hosting XML or WAP pages is simply a matter of creating the proper custom MIME types; no other special support is required on the server. WAP and XML MIME types are configured on our servers and can be used with any account.
16. Which versions of PHP, Perl, and MySQL are you using?
We are currently using Perl 5.6.0, PHP 4.0.4pl1, and MySQL 3.23.31.
17. Do you support ColdFusion or Active Server Pages? Do you provide Windows NT/2000 hosting? Do you support Microsoft Access?
No. Pets Playground provides services exclusively utilizing the Red Hat operating system. There are implementations of both ColdFusion and ASP for Unix, but we are continuing to evaluate them for stability and suitability. Please note that we do support powerful alternatives such as PHP4, Perl5, and MySQL.
Microsoft Access is the entry-level SQL server used with Windows-based system. We do not provide any services using Windows NT or Windows 2000, and do not plan to offer any services using those operating systems. We use the Unix version of the FrontPage server extensions in order to provide that service.
18. Is there an uptime guarantee?
Pets Playground promises 99.5% uptime! If our servers are down for more then 0.5% without you being pre-warned, we will credit you 24 hours of hosting per one hour of downtime over.
